Traces 1 - dig deep into effects; not your pocket!
The first edition of Traces focuses on arps, with 50 Arpeggiator Racks, ranging from simple beat sequences to complex melodies that can be altered in real-time. Combining the Racks with each other delivers even more sequences with literally thousands of combinations to try out. From instant glitch to subtle backgrounds. And how about using several Arpeggiator Racks at once?
The Covert Operators bring you their most abstract pack ever! The "Release" pack for the Tension synth in Live 7 is more than just strings and guitar sounds
- This Live Pack has some of the craziest sounds we've ever extracted from an Ableton Instrument.
I have always loved the sound of a howling tape delay, and when I first got Live (version 3 at the time) it didn't take me long to start to build some of these routing structures I had previously worked with in hardware, using so called "dub mixing" techniques to send audio to delays and then manipulate the sounds within an effects feedback loop.
^^^ wow, that was a long sentence!
Anyways, I have been rigging my machine to do HD video captures, and I think I finally nailed it. Please add any requests for future videos or comments on the quality/lack thereof, hehe. Click the first link below the video to go to vimeo if you need the HD version - cheers.
yes it looks quite nice! Still gets a bit much when the text is over a highlighted portion for me. black would be a pain too because of all the black in the skin.
Bright green it is ;-)
the other vids where there is a sort of dedicated lower third is very cool to my eyes. You lose some screen space though i guess. Either, i think you guys are way cool, and every time i think i know a bit about Live I come here and get pwned. Quite refreshing.
thanks for the info bjorn.
just to check, when i was on the vimeo page, down in the rt corner, i joined vimeo, and was allowed to download an mp4 of 60.4 mb in size.
is this the HQ version you speak of?
vimeo does not require a new download. The streaming videos on their site and embedded here are simple flash files, and the downloadable file (which naturally requires you to download it!) is an mp4, playable by any modern player.
- and a download isn't neccesary, obviously: on http://www.vimeo.com/860391/ the stream is already in HD.
Vimeo has thousands of users, none of them are being violated by their service, you have my word on that.
Hey, very nice tutorial. Finally I understand how to do this Feedback Send thing. It never worked for me up to now, because I never realized you had to enable sends on return tracks first. Now I know. Thank you!
I can't get the routing to work though - I wonder if you could share what is happening in the I-O section so I can see what is being routed where?
I have enabled Sends on the Return track and turned up Send A on return track A, but I cannot get the "endless note" bit (i.e. the feedback) going without turning up "Feedback" on the PingPong on Track 1, but your Pingpong feedback is set to 0%.
